“Nastier” Frankie Gavin promising Eggington knockout
Frankie Gavin [23(14)-2(1)] is not known for his punch power, but he has promised to stop cross-city rival Sam Eggington when the pair meet next month.
Former Irish champion Gavin faces Eggington [18(10)-3(0)] at the Barclaycard Arena in a welterweight Birmingham derby on October 22nd live on Sky Sports.
The two came face-to-face today at a tetchy press conference to build their headline fight, and Gavin, who turns 31 tomorrow, explained that he is a level above the savage.
The 2007 World Amateur gold medalist claimed that “I’m levels above him.”
Regarding his knockout predction, Gavin described how “I’m a nastier fighter now.”
“I’m ready to swim in deep waters against Sam.”
“It’s going to come down to who wants it most.”
“This wont go the distance.”
22 year old Eggington also promised an early night on the Bragging Rights card, saying that the clash is “definitely ending in a brutal KO!”
For former British, Commonwealth, and European champion Gavin, he knows that it’s “a long road back for the loser.”
“I’ve got to prove it on the night I’m the better man.”
The pair also engaged in a frosty staredown following the top-table discussions:
