Murphy’s law for TJ Doheny – PABA Champion to head Stateside

TJ Doheny has been provided with the platform to mount an attack on World level.

The Portloise native has conquered Australia and secured himself a World ranking by claiming the PABA continental title in just his sixth fight back in 2013.

Now having gained experience with a number of defences over the last two years, ‘The Power’ is keen to become a world name in a division that includes Carl Frampton, Scott Quigg, Nonito Donaire, and Guillermo Rigondeaux.

The 29 year old has now teamed up with Murphy’s Boxing, the Boston-based promotional company that look after Gary O’Sullivan and Stephen Ormond, and will fight Stateside in 2016. Indeed the former Senior finalist looks set to make his American debut on the March 19th Boston card that includes Niall Kennedy, Steve Collins Jr and Stephen Ormond.

A move to New York proved beneficial for Doheny’s fellow Oz based Irish man Dennis Hogan. ‘The Hurricane’ increased his profile with wins in America and secured a WBA interim title shot, which he lost to Jack Culcay in Germany, and Doheny will have similar ambitions.
