More frustration for John Joe Nevin as comeback clash is called off
John Joe Nevin [8(4)-0] has been forced to pull out of his upcoming fight.
The 27 year old Mullingar super featherweight was due to headline a nine-fight show at the Fillmore venue in Philadelphia on Friday March 24th.
His opponent here would have been Puerto Rican Luis Lebron [7(3)-0-1] for the UBF title.
However, a rib injury sustained by the Westmeath man has force his withdrawal and the postponement of the card.
It’s more frustrating news for Nevin, who has suffered a jilted paid career since turning pro in the aftermath of his 2013 European gold medal, being restricted to just eight fights in three years due to a multitude of issues.
The 2012 Olympic silver medallist’s most recent contest took place at the SugarHouse Casino, last August, with Nevin outpointing Jesus Lule over six.
