Moore set for Helix

Jamie Moore is making an immediate return to Ireland, with the light-middleweight agreeing to a fight on the Frank Maloney-promoted card at The Helix in Dublin on December 18.

Moore claimed the Irish title with a commanding third-round stoppage of Ciaran Healy in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght in July.

The 30-year-old Salford native clearly savoured his Irish debut because not only is he returning next month to fight an as yet unconfirmed opponent, Maloney is hoping that Moore will come back again next year if he manages to claim the vacant European title in his upcoming bout with Michele Piccirillo.

“These are a crucial few months for Jamie and a six-rounder will fill him with even more confidence ahead of the Piccirillo,” he explained. “Getting home advantage against Piccirillo is a big help.

“Although Jamie boxes out of Salford he is proud of his Irish heritage and I’m sure he’ll get another great welcome next month.

“If he defeats Piccirillo it could possibly make a defence of that title in Dublin.”
