Mick Conlan Homecoming Undercard hit by Major Withdrawal

The massive Mick Conlan homecoming card in Belfast next Saturday [June 30th] has been hit by the cancellation of one of the main support bouts.

The bill at the SSE Odyssey Arena sees Top Rank prospect Conlan fight professional on Irish soil for the first time.

Along with the Olympic bronze medallist, who takes on recent World title challenger Adeilson Dos Santos in an eight rounder, a scarcely believable undercard was announced.

Sadly it has tonight been confirmed that one of the main fights – the welterweight clash between Paddy Gallagher and Gary Corcoran – will not take place.

Belfast’s Gallagher [13(8)-4(0)] suffered a broken jaw in one of his final spars, ruling him out of the fight.

Corcoran [17(7)-2(2)] remains on the card and a new opponent is currently being sourced.

‘The Pat Man’ was set to return to the ring in a major fight just two months on from his close loss to Brad Solomon in the WBC Invitational in Kentucky.

Gallagher’s pull-out is the second change to the bumper undercard, with Phil Sutcliffe Jr pulling out of his light welterweight clash with Tyrone McKenna following an accident. In that instance, world title chaser Jack Catterall was able to step in for the June 30th.

Considering the short time frame, it would not seem likely that London-Irish brawler Corcoran will be able to secure a replacement foe of a similar level to Gallagher.

An exciting undercard remains, with Catterall v McKenna, a Jono Carroll v Declan Geraghty super featherweight rematch, a vacant BBBoC Celtic title fight between Tyrone McCullagh and Joe Ham, a big test for Gary Cully versus Zoltan Szabo, and a clash between Lewis Benson and Johnny Coyle.

Also featuring will be Padraig McCrory, Lewis Crocker, Taylor McGoldrick, Sunny Edwards, and Neslan Machado.
