Mick Conlan conscious and stable following horrific World Title KO

Mick Conlan is conscious and stable following his heart-breaking knockout defeat to Leigh Wood in Nottingham tonight.

The Belfast featherweight had dropped the WBA champion heavily in the first round and was up on the cards in but was knocked out on his feet in the twelfth round before falling heavily through the ropes.

There was immediate concern in the Motorpoint Arena as Conlan was stretchered out of the venue and brought straight to hospital. Thankfully, it has been confirmed that the Irishman is currently “conscious and stable.”

In recognition of the severity of the stoppage and out of respect for Mick and his family, we will not be publishing our ringside report from the fight at this time. While it was an epic contest, some things are more important.

Our thoughts are with the Conlans.
