MGM to bring boxing back to the Point after Belfast date?

Could we be set for a return of the Bernard Dunne era?

According to the boxing rumour mill MGM are ready to upgrade from the National Stadium to the 3Arena, the venue know as The Point when Dublin darling Bernard Dunne was packing it out between 2006 and 2009.

The non confirmed suggestion indicate MGM, who have mouthwatering February 6 clash lined up for the National Stadium, have plans to put on a show at the docklands venue in the Summer.

There has been talk of Jamie Conlan versus Paul Butler taking place in May and with the Belfast MGM’s fighters recent Dublin success that could be a potential bill topper, but would certainly need a strong undercard to pack out an arena that holds 9000.

Matchroom brought boxing back to The Docklands in November of last Year, but defeat to Matthew Macklin meant they haven’t brought the Sky Camera’s back.

There is also mummers of an Spring show in Belfast and MGM could join Cyclone Promotions, MHD Promotions and the likes of Alio Wilton in running shows in the current capitail of Irish boxing.

Eddie Hearn has also revealed he has plans to bring Ryan Burnett to Belfast in April.
