Mexican looking to move into world top ten with victory over Hungarian Champ
Jamie ‘The Mexican’ Conlan makes the first defence of his recently acquired WBO European Super Flyweight title against Hungary’s Gabor Molnar in the co-main event of ‘The Waterfront Brawl’ at Belfast’s iconic Waterfront Hall on Friday the 20th of June.
Belfast’s Conlan, the WBO World number 11, will look to put on a dominant display against the Hungarian Bantamweight champion Molnar, 15(10) – 5, and force his way into the top-10 of the World.
“I’m really pleased to be back out again so soon and to be defending my title at home in the awesome Waterfront Hall. I need to beat this guy in style and push on up the rankings, I have to keep active if I want my career to progress and with a win on the 20th of June, I could potentially be back out twice more this year. Training has gone well and I can’t wait to get back in there and defend my title in front of my home fans,” said a buoyant Conlan.
With a British title shot looming Conlan, 11(7) – 0, cannot afford to be complacent in what will be his first headline slot in his home city on the 20th of June. The British number one ranked Super Flyweight will be aiming to move on to fight for the vacant British title if victorious on the 20th of June, once current champion Paul Butler has moved up to Bantamweight permanently following his fight with Stuart Hall for the World title next month.
