The Irish boxing community was horrified at the start of last month at the stabbing of Belfast middleweight Caoimhin Agyarko Hynes.

The Holy Trinity fighter was slashed on the neck in a late night attack and was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery.

The upbeat Ulster boxer received a wave of well-wishes from the boxing community and is recovering brilliantly from the senseless attack, returning to the gym recently.

In a wide-ranging interview, Agyarko Hynes spoke to Irish-Boxing.com about his road to recovery and stated that “I’m recovering well. I’ve been out for seven, eight weeks now.”

“Physically I’m fine, my cut’s healing up well. I’ve got a big scar down my face, but I was at the plastic surgeon and they were saying everything’s going well in terms of the cut healing properly. ”

“Mentally, I’m getting there. I’m starting to feel wee bit more confident in myself, getting back on the street and back into town, I’m not doing too bad.”
