Menace from Ennis beats former Amateur standout in Pittsburgh

The menace from Ennis, Cian “The Celtic” Cyclone Dalton moved on to 4-0-1 (2KOs) with a convincing victory against 1-0 pro and former amateur standout Lawrence Blakey from Pittsburgh.

The Ennis transplant used his punishing jab to control the action and big right hands opened a sizeable cut under Blakey’s left eye. All 3 judges at Ringside had it 39-37 for Dalton.

“I thought that Cian won all 4 rounds. He used his jab and distance really well this fight and his defense has improved. Onward and upward!” said cornerman/manager Michael McSorley of Pittsburgh’s Conn-Greb Boxing Club.

Although Dalton retained McSorley and trainer Rich Goodwald for this Pittsburgh fight, the Ennis native relocated from Pittsburgh to San Francisco this past winter and has been training with famed trainer Eddie Croft.

In California, Dalton has been sparring with many of the sweet science’s top professionals. Despite the relocation, Dalton has maintained a large Irish fan following in the Pittsburgh area and has received sponsorship from New York based Southern Tier Brewing Company.
