McGuigans and Frampton to star in upcoming BBC1 documentary series
The Cyclone Promotions stable are to feature in a new three-part fly-on-the-wall documentary that will be shown over the coming weeks on BBC 1.
Titled ‘Fight Game: The McGuigans’ the show follows the Cyclone stable between June 2016 and February 2017, taking in Carl Frampton’s two epic battles with Leo Santa Cruz for the WBA featherweight title in New York and Las Vegas.
During this time, trainer Shane would get married, Conrad Cummings would suffer a controversial loss, and George Groves was involved in a tragic fight with Eduard Gutknecht.
Shot between London, New York, Las Vegas, Clones, Belfast, and Coalisland, the programme will feature interviews with Frampton along with Barry, Shane, Blain, Jake, and Sharon McGuigan, all of whom play a part in the Cyclone Promotions outfit.
“Boxing is the honesty business. It’s life in a 12-round fight. Half a second and you’re knocked out, you’re looking up at the stars and it’s over,” said Barry McGuigan.
The documentary is produced by Ad Hoc Films, makers of ‘Night Of The Fight: Hatton’s Last Stand’ which aired on ITV and focused on Ricky Hatton’s 2012 comeback.
Fight Game: The McGuigans will first air on BBC One Northern Ireland on Wednesday May 17th at 22.40.
