McGugian: Haye and Groves knew Frampton was priority #1
Carl Frampton is the number one priority, that is was talented and emerging coach Shane McGuigan told former heavyweight World champion David Haye and three time super middleweight world title challenger George Groves when they teamed up with the London based trainer.
Such has been the dedication and professionalism shown by the former Ulster champion that not too many questioned whether the two big name arrivals have a negative effect on ‘The Jackal’s’ Scott Quigg preparations, but McGuigan has addressed the issue himself this week.
The young coach claims that considering the magnitude of fight faced by Frampton this weekend that he was main man in the gym over recent months.
Carl has always been my main priority and the other guys know that,” said McGuigan, one of Barry’s four children.
“David and George came back when they were having comeback fights. They were re-establishing themselves but Carl is in the biggest fight of 2016 so far.
“I never took my eye off the ball, I knew the others needed work, they were getting back in the mix but it wasn’t too time-consuming.”
