McDonagh/Spike/Ormond in Glasgow
19 August 2010 – Cormac Campbell
Peter McDonagh, who last week told irish-boxing.com of his desire to square off with Dean Byrne has secured a clash with Alex Arthur on September 4.
The Connemara Kid will face the former European and WBO champion over eight rounds at Glasgows Kelvin Hall.
Arthur, 27-3 (20KO), will be looking to get his career back on track following a points defeat to Nigel Wright last December. For his part McDonagh, 15-18 (2KO), will be hoping to pull off a major upset as he returns to the lightweight division for the first time since losing an Irish title fight to Andy Murray in July 2008.
Stephen Ormond and Gary O’Sullivan also feature on the Frank Warren card which is topped by John Simpson’s Commonwealth featherweight title clash with Stephen Smith.
