McDonagh vacates Irish light middleweight title
‘Connemara Kid’ Peter McDonagh has vacated the Irish light middleweight title the Boxing Union of Ireland revealed today.
The two weight Irish champion, who trains alongside Anthony Fitzgerald and Declan Geraghty, claimed the strap when defeating John Hutchinson on a London hosted Chanel 5 broadcast show back in March.
However, the 36 year old, who claimed the lightweight version of the strap by beating Michael Gomez back in 2005 hasn’t defended it since.
The MGM puncher has since vacated a title that was previously held by Lee Murthagh and the likes of Dee Walsh, Denis Hogan and Michael McLaughlin have expressed an interest in challenging for.
