Since defeating Breidis Prescott in what was billed as a WBA world title eliminator ‘Dudey’ has been linked with Marcos Maidana, Zab Judah and the whole WBA top 5.

The Dungiven stylist is said to have the Odyssey Arena booked for March and was hoping to attract a big light welterweight name to Belfast.

However, promoter Eddie Hearn has indicted he has considered putting the former British and European champion on Lou DiBella’s St Patrick’s Day Madison Square Garden.

Regardless of where and when is next two bouts are McCloskey looks set to have another big year and is certain what he wants to fight for over the next 12 months.

“I want to be fighting for a World title in my next two fights,” he told the Newsletter.

“That is the aim and if I can fight for it in my next fight, that would be great. Talks are on-going at the minute and hopefully it will be sorted out sooner rather than later. It is an honour to fight for a World title and if you do it once you do it again. Once you get the taste for fighting at the level, you want to do it again and again.”
