Matthew Macklin: Coach Moore suffered no permanent damage after shooting
MATTHEW Macklin revealed his trainer Jamie Moore is recovering in hospital after being injured in Spain.
The former Irish and European champion was shot twice in the legs, but Macklin, who also traded leather in The Fight of the Decade with Moore, revealed no serious or permanent damage has been inflicted on his coach.
Macklin said on Twitter: “Just to let everyone know Jamie Moore is still in hospital but he’s OK.
“He was shot in his legs but the doctors have said there shouldn’t be any serious or permanent damage done.”
Moore, a Sky Sports pundit, was due to work the corners of both Tommy Coyle and World title hopeful Macklin in the National Stadium on August 30, but it is unsure if he will recover on time to be present for the big Dublin fight night.
Macklin will most likely work with younger brother Seamus, coach of Declan Geraghty and Anthony Fitzgerald, as he prepares for this World title eliminator with Jorge Sebastian Heiland.
