Massive Belfast bout announced for Marco McCullough against unbeaten Scot

Marco McCullough [15(9)-3(2)] certainly isn’t rebuilding slowly.

Following his Commonwealth featherweight title loss to Isaac Lowe in February, the Belfast man has joined up with MGM. Now, after just one rust-buster of a fight on a dinner show in Scotland, he is straight back into another clash with an unbeaten domestic talent.

It has been announced that McCullough will face Glasgow’s Michael Roberts Jr [18(1)-0-1] on Saturday November 5th at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast.

McCullough’s fight will be one of the chief supports on the Boxnation-aired bill which will be headlined by Jamie Conlan, feature the debut of Paddy Barnes, and includes a mouth-watering clash between light welterweights Sean Creagh and Tyrone McKenna.

29 year old super featherweight Roberts enters the bout with British title ambitions and an attractive-looking record. However, McCullough will be by far the biggest test of his career. The only blot on the Scotsman’s record came last October against Reynaldo Cajina (a six-round draw). The Nicaraguan has been knocked out by Ryan Burnett and outpointed by Declan Geraghty, and will face another Scot, Dundee’s Ronnie Clark, on the MHD Promotions ‘Another Level’ card at the Europa Hotel tomorrow evening.
