Martin Lindsay: I could be enticed back

At the recent Féile Fight Night in the Falls Park, Belfast, irish-boxing.com caught up with former British featherweight champion Martin Lindsay.

‘The Mac Man,’ who hasn’t fought in over a year, admitted that the Tommy McCarthy-headlined show under the marquee had him yearning for a return to action. Lindsay explained that “All fighters love that buzz of going into the ring and fighting in front of a crowd and I am no different. When you stop fighting you miss that.”

“It is great to come to a show like this that is on your doorstep and there are loads of people here – who supported me when I was fighting.”

“It sends a tingle down your spine and you want to get in there and get started.”

However, Lindsay would not want to return as a stepping stone for younger fighters. He revealed that “sometimes I feel like giving it another go but I would want time for preparation.”

“People want you to take fights at a couple of weeks notice – but I don’t want that.”

33 year old Lindsay then tantalisingly remarked that “if the right offer came along – I would have to think about it.”

Hopefully a promoter out their will open their cheque-book to enable more amazing nights like this:
