Marc McCullough tops The Waterfront Brawl in Belfast on June 20

Cyclone Promotions are proud to present ‘The Waterfront Brawl’, a fantastic night of Championship boxing featuring some of Britain and Ireland’s best Boxing talent in action at the iconic Waterfront Hall in Belfast. Belfast’s Marc McCullough features in the co-main event in what will surely be the toughest contest of his career so far against Slovakia’s undefeated Martin Parlagi for the vacant WBO European Featherweight title. The two highly rated Featherweight prospects face off over ten rounds for the vacant strap and the chance to be rated in the top-15 of the WBO World rankings.

Belfast’s McCullough was due to fight for this title on the undercard of Carl Frampton Vs. Hugo Cazares in April until a visa issue with original opponent Andrea Isaeu caused the bout to be cancelled. The talented McCullough now gets his chance to get his hands on that title as he faces his stiffest test to date in Parlagi. The

Slovakian is a former amateur star who competed at the AIBA World Championships in 2007 and 2009 for his country as well as reaching the 2008 European Amateur Championships quarterfinal. Since turning professional the Prague based Parlagi has amassed an impressive 14 – 0 record with 8 knockouts and captured the Czech Lightweight title and has since returned to Featherweight where he has looked a real handful.

Young McCullough will be unfazed by his undefeated opponent as the Belfast stylist looks to put on a show for his thunderous home support. His impressive stoppage of Limerick’s former European Super Bantamweight champion Willie ‘Big Bang’ Casey in October of last year put Marc on the map as a genuinely exciting

prospect at Featherweight. His last outing was a three round destruction of late replacement Elemir Rafael at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on the undercard of Frampton/Cazares in April. This vacant WBO European title fight will provide Marc with an opportunity to break into the top-15 of the WBO World rankings and establish himself as a contender at domestic and continental level.

“It’s great to be back out in front of my home fans and fighting for a vacant title that will bring me a good ranking. My opponent is undefeated as a pro and was a proven amateur. He will be coming here to win and I will have to be at my best but I am one hundred percent confident that I will deliver at the Waterfront on the 20th of June and take that title home,” stated a buoyant McCullough.

Newly crowned WBO European Super Flyweight champion Jamie Conlan is ecstatic to be back in action so soon after his recent championship bout. The WBO

World number 11 ranked Super Flyweight suffered a cut before demolishing Belgium’s Benjamin Smoes in front of a raucous Odyssey Arena crowd on April 4th to claim his first title and he will be looking to put on a similarly impressive display at the Waterfront Hall on June 20th. British number one Jamie will defend his title against an opponent to be named shortly and if successful the man they call ‘The

Mexican’ will then focus his attention on the British title before the end of 2014. Victory on the 20th of June would mean another step on the ladder towards domestic domination for the Belfast puncher who is now 11 – 0 with 7 knockouts.

“I can’t wait for the 20th of June. Co-headlining the first Boxing show at the

Waterfront Hall for fourteen years is something special and I really want to put on a show for the fans in my first defence of this title. It is regular fights that I have always craved and to be in regular title fights at home is brilliant,” stated Conlan.

Cyclone Promotions’ exciting Middleweight prospect Conrad ‘Dynamite’

Cummings takes another step on his journey to the top as he makes his third outing as a professional on the 20th of June. The Coalisland pressure fighter looked frighteningly explosive in his second pro fight on April 4th at the Odyssey Arena and Cummings will be eager to continue his impressive progression under trainer Shane

McGuigan on the undercard of ‘The Waterfront Brawl’. “I feel stronger and more confident with every camp and I am already back in training for the 20th of June and feeling good. It will be great to get back out in front of my fans and hopefully there will be a good number coming up from Coalisland to get behind me as well as the brilliant Belfast crowd,” stated a determined Cummings.

Also featuring on the undercard of ‘The Waterfront Brawl’ is former Olympian and red-hot Featherweight prospect Isaac Dogboe. The former Ghanaian amateur star has been sparring Ring Magazine World number one Super Bantamweight and Belfast’s leading Boxing star Carl ‘The Jackal’ Frampton for the past year and the twenty year-old Dogboe is now ready to burst onto the British and Irish Boxing scene on June 20th.

Cyclone Promotions CEO Barry McGuigan is excited at what is shaping up to be an excellent night of Championship Boxing on the 20th of June at the Waterfront Hall.

“‘The Waterfront Brawl’ signals the start of a multi-fight deal between Cyclone

Promotions and the iconic Waterfront Hall. It is exciting times for Belfast Boxing and the 20th of June promises to be an electric evening of Championship Boxing. Marc

McCullough is fighting a very dangerous and undefeated boxer in Martin Parlagi. Parlagi will be coming over here to win the vacant title and Marc has to prove he can deal with a marauding and big punching opponent such as this. We are all very confident Marc will win and win in style but it will be his toughest fight to date, no doubt about it. Jamie Conlan is rapidly moving up the rankings at Super Flyweight and he will get his chance to defend his new title and put himself in a position to fight for a British title by the end of the year. Conrad Cummings has been impressing us all of late and we look forward to seeing him in action and taking the next step of his professional Boxing journey.”
