Macklin and Murray discuss 2015 showdown
Martin Murray and Matthew Macklin have indicated on Twitter that they would be open to facing each other in a high-profile showdown later in 2015.
The duo along with Andy Lee and recently retired Darren Barker have been continuously linked over the years, but a bout never materalised.
However, during a conversation where Macklin praised Murray’s performance in defeat to Gennady Golovkin on Saturday night, Macklin suggested that talks could take place after his outing in May, something Murray acknowledged that he would be interested in.
Interestingly Golovkin, Sergio Martinez and Felix Sturm have prevented both men from becoming world champions. Former Irish champion, Macklin returns to the ring in Birmingham in May hoping to prove his Jorge Sebastian Hieland reverse was borne out fatigue and nothing more.
