Macklin changes coach
5 January 2009 – By Jonny Stapleton
Matthew Macklin has once again changed trainer and will work under the stewardship of Joe Gallagher before his British Middleweight title bout with Wayne Elcock in March.
The Birmingham born son of Roscommon and Tipperary parents had previously worked with Paddy Lynch, Billy Graham, Buddy McGirt and former WBC super middleweight champion Ritchie Woodhall but will work with Gallagher for what could be a career defining title fight against fellow Brumie Elcock.
Gallagher is a respected up and coming trainer having already helped John Murray to the British lightweight belt and will be the latest to attempt to unlock Macklins potential.
