Spoiler Alert – Lynn Harvey learning more about opponent than she would’ve liked

So dedicated is Lynn Harvey, we don’t imagine she has too much time for TV. However, if she does try to catch up on a boxset or two during her down time you would feel sorry for her.

The Dublin boxer it seems is surrounded by spoilers, so much so it has been a case of ‘spoiler alert’ in regard to the Celtic Warrior Gym fighter’s Inception opponent.

Harvey’s friends and family have taken it upon themselves to become boxing scouts and the loyal fanbase-turned-amateur coaches have tried endlessly to fill her in on all things Mary Romero – and for a fighter who likes to be virtually kept in the dark, that is something of a nuisance.

“I haven’t looked at her at all. I leave that to my coach [Daniel O’Sullivan] and manager [Paschal Collins]. I know fighters say that a lot, but ideally I want to know nothing. People have still been shoving it in my face though! All over Facebook, friends and family everywhere, people have been telling me about her,” Harvey told Irish-Boxing.com.

“I check nothing, not even her record. I just feel it serves no purpose. If I see her and she looks bad then I get over confident. If I watch a fight and she is good maybe other things come in your mind. I just go in knowing she will be tough and it will be a tough fight.”

“I don’t go in as unaware as I like to though this time. Honestly nobody has been shy about telling me all about her. I tell them if I wanted to know I’d research myself, but it hasn’t stopped them. I am getting reports from all over, ” she added through a smile.

The Kilbarrack flyweight had asked for a step up, and with out even looking towards records, it may seem she wouldn’t know if she is progressing in terms of opponent levels.

However, it has been made clear to the former National Elite champion that she faces a tough test and a significant step up on Red Corner’s National Stadium-hosted debut show this Saturday.

“Well I know it’s a step up because my coach Daniel told me. He has also said it is a tough fight for anyone in just their second fight and told me she will be naturally bigger than me. I’ll enjoy that test though and I am confident.”

“I know she will be tough and it won’t be a quick night. I tell myself it will be a good fight and I think it will, but I am one hundred percent confident I will break her down.”
