Luke Wilton to fight for British flyweight title

Belfast flyweight Luke Wilton [16(7)-4(1)-1)] has been handed a massive opportunity with the British Boxing Board of Control announcing that he will face Iain Butcher for the vacant British title. Venue and date for the Frank Warren-promoted fight have yet to be announced.

Motherwell 23 year old Butcher [12(2)-2(0)] will represent a tough test for Wilton, however the Belfast man will be confident of causing an update.

‘Winky’ and the MGM-trained ‘Baby Butch’ will both be hoping that it is second time lucky having both unsuccessfully challenged Kevin Satchell for the belt back in 2013.

26 year old Wilton has been out of the ring for over a year and was due to have two comeback fights in September and October – however it is now unclear whether these will take place due to his impending title shot.
