Luke Keeler: I am as much a middleweight prospect as Quigley or Cummings

LUKE Keeler [5(4)-0] believes he is as much as middleweight prospect as the high profile duo of Conrad Cummings and Jason Quigley and he is looking forward to proving as much in his upcoming bouts.

‘Dynamite’ Cummings [3(2)-0] and Quigley [2(2)-0] have attracted a lot of media attention since turning over and have been tipped for the top by fight fans and pundits alike.

Considering their successful amateur careers and the fact they are signed to Cyclone Promotions and Golden Boy respectively, hype is both deserved and expected.

However, while there is a difference in column inches received, ‘Cool Hand Luke’ is adamant there isn’t a talent discrepancy between him and the Ulster pair. The undefeated middleweight, who tops his first bill at the Red Cow Moran Hotel on Friday September 12th, plans to prove as much over the next 12 months.

“The likes of Jason Quigley and Conrad Cummings had huge success in the amateurs and as a result have an easier start to their pro careers with regards publicity and not having to sell tickets to cover opponents and so forth,” Keeler told Irish-boxing.com.

“This is only right at the same time their hard work and success paying is off – but I genuinely feel I’m at the same level in the professional game as those lads and I look forward to proving that in next year or so.”
