Leinster Rugby coach to become pro boxer

A member of the Leinster Rugby coaching team is to become a professional boxer.

Head of strength and conditioning with the senior team, Cillian Reardon, has made the decision to box pro and will debut next month.

Before working with the Leinster senior team, he was involved with the Dublin GAA team.

The Dublin sport scientist has background in boxing, having fought with Monkstown BC and DCU, and brings this into his rugby sessions.

In the pros he will be trained at St Michael’s Inchicore under Steven O’Rourke alongside another rugby-to-boxing convert, Stevie Collins Jr.

A debut date has already been confirmed for the middleweight, and Reardon will box on the SK Promotions ‘Next Generation’ card at the CityWest Hotel in Saggart on Friday November 24th.
