Limericks Andy Lee improved his record to 23-1 (17KO) with a stoppage of Amerian Michael Walker in Chicago on Friday night.

Referee Celestino Ruiz officially ended the ten-round bout after 2.03 of the eighth round as Lee, who was well ahead on points, trapped Walker, 19-5-2 (12KO), in the corner and unleashed a barrage of blows to head and body.

Southpaw Lee is scheduled to return to action on October 2 in Indiana, against an as of yet unknown opponent. Following the October bout, Lees coach Emanuel Steward is hoping to move his man towards a world title tilt early in the New Year.
