Lee hoping to get ‘GGG’ revenge and claim world title in April

ANDY Lee hopes he gets the chance to avenge an amateur World championships reverse and challenge for a professional title at the same time.

The Limerick man revealed talks re a possible bout with Gennady Golovkin, who scored his 16th knockout in a row when defeating Osumanu Adama to retain his WBA middleweight title last Saturday night, are underway.

Golovkin’s promoter said they will make three offers for Golovkin’s next fight.  Golovkin’s team already has Madison Square Garden locked up for April 26 and its believed that the three offers will be extended to Lee, Daniel Geale, and James Kirkland.

Speaking about a possible dust up with the fighter with the highest knockout ratio amongst all current fighters, Lee said he is hopeful it can be made and suggested he would love to reverse the defeat he suffered to the Kazakh in the amateurs

.”My manager Adam Booth and promoter Lou DiBella have been talking to Golovkin, its in negotiations. They have New York tentatively booked for April 26 and there are a couple of names including myself being lined up to fight. We will see what happens. We meet before in 2003 in the amateurs and he beat me on points hopefully I will reverse that this time,” Lee told Newstalk.
