Khan expecting ‘interesting’ fight
06 May 2008 – by Mark Doyle
Commonwealth lightweight champion Amir Khan is excited about his bout with Michael Gomez in Birmingham on June 21.
The undefeated Khan is expecting his uncompromising, all-action Irish-born Mancunian opponent to cause him a number of problems but he is supremely confident of victory and believes that Gomez represents the next step on his march towards a world title.
“He’s got a different style and I’m looking forward to it,” Khan told Setanta Sports News.
“It is the first time that I’m fighting in Birmingham on the 21st of June, and I want my fans to be happy and get a chance to see me fight.
“I’m getting nearer and nearer to what I want to achieve in boxing.
“This fight is one of the steps that I have to take. I’m going to beat this guy and then go onto bigger things.”
