Kevin McBride to fight Evander Holyfield on Teofimo Lopez PPV card
Kevin McBride will fight Evander Holyfield in an exhibition bout according to reports.
The 47-year-old looks set to compete with the 58-year-old ring legend on the undercard of Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr on June 5.
‘The Clones Colossus’ hasn’t fought in over a decade but will return against the former heavyweight champion on a Thriller PPV card.
The surprise news was first reported by Sports Illustrated and later confirmed by The Athletic and Yahoo Sports.
The Monaghan big man was Mike Tyson’s last professional opponent, defeating ‘Iron Mike’ in June 2005 and expressed a rematch interest when the American was discussing his exhibition return earlier this year.
Tyson went on to fight Roy Jones Jr in an exhibtion said to have generated $80 million in PPV buys.
Four-time heavyweight world champion Holyfield, who has been retired since 2011, has since been linked with a third meeting with the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ – and there has been talk of a turned down $25 million offer.
It now seems Thriller are looking to build toward that clash and McBride will become a part of the proposed legend series.

There are many detractors when it comes to names from the past returning to fight on Thriller and there has already been some questioning whether McBride, despite the fact he is younger than most names mentioned, should fight again.
