Keeler Comeback Confirmed – U.S. debut for ‘Cool Hand’
Luke Keeler will next month begin rebuilding after a knockout loss in his Fight of the Year contender with Tom Doran.
The Ballyfermot middleweight had Doran down in the first but was caught and downed himself twice during a furious five minutes at the Echo Arena in Liverpool back in April.
While the Welshman has been rewarded with a British title fight with Chris Eubank Jr, Cool Hand isn’t taking an extended hiatus from the ring and will be back through the ropes at the end of July – and it won’t be in a small hall show.
The Celtic Warriors Gym fighter will trade leather for the first time in the USA, and will share a card with his gym-mate Spike O’Sullivan on a Murphy’s Boxing show in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
The transatlantic fight doesn’t mark the end of 29 year old’s association with Matchroom either, as the comeback fight has been green-lit by certified Keeler fanatic Eddie Hearn.
An impressive win next month will put the Dubliner in-line for a slot on the rumoured Sky Sports show in Belfast in September as he seeks to quickly jump back into title contention, or perhaps even a third fight with two-time conqueror Tom Doran.
