Kavanagh returns to winning ways on Boston card

JAMIE Kavanagh banished the first defeat blues in comprehensive fashion in the House of Blues, Boston on St Patrick’s Day.
‘The Nuisnace’ suffered a first career loss against experienced Mexican puncher Daniel Ruiz in Mexico last December, but returned to the ring and winning ways on Monday.
The Dublin lightweight opened a card that also included John Joe Nevin’s debut with an unanimous points decision against another Puerto Rican fighter in Andreas Navarro.
The Joel Diaz trained former Wild Card pro was caught cold in his last bout, but made sure he started his latest innings in impressive fashion.
He attacked with regular success in the opening rounds, doing particular damage with the left hook. Kavanagh suffered a cut above his left eye in the latter rounds as his foe was forced to search for a killer blow, but ultimately eased to 79-73, 79-73 and 80-72 victory.
