Katie Taylor nominated for a BBC Sports Star award

Katie Taylor has been nominated for a BBC Sports Star award.

Not the coveted BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which is reserved for British fighters, rather she has been put forward for the BBC World Sport Star of the Year award.

Taylor is nominated on the back of two brilliant performances. The Bray fighter retained her four lightweight world titles with victory over Delfine Persoon in an eagerly anticipated and hard fought rematch during fight camp.

The undisputed P4P #1 then produced a masterclass against mandatory challenger Miriam Gutierrez in Wembley Arena last month.

The winner will be chosen by a public vote, a vote that is open to residents of the Republic of Ireland.

People can vote via the BBC Sport website and voting is closed at midday on December 15.

Taylor is up against the likes of Basketball legend Le Bron James, golfer Dustin Johnson and Conor McGregor defeater Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The full list of nominees are Katie Taylor, Dustin Johnson, Le Bron James, Armand Duplantis, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Wendie Renard.
