Katie Taylor will make her debut against Polish opposition.

The amateur legend has signed to Matchroom Boxing and will make her paid bow on Saturday November 26th at the Wembley Arena.

Her opposition for this bout, which will feature prominently on the ‘Big City Dreams‘ card, will be Poland’s Karina Kopinska [7(2)-14(1)-3]. The fight will take place over six two-minute rounds in London.

The experienced Eastern European is a former opponent of Monaghan’s Christina McMahon, who challenges for Linda Laura Lecca’s WBA super flyweight title in Dublin on December 3rd. ‘Lightning’ fought Kopinska in her fifth professional contest in March 2013, winning a competitive eight round fight at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk.

Kopinska also went six rounds with Finland’s current WBC super featherweight champion Eva Wahlström back in 2014, as well as being stopped in the second by Frenchwoman Maiva Hamadouche, the current WBA super featherweight champion. On her only previous trip to the UK, Kopinska was outpointed over six in 2014 by English-based Greek boxer Areti Mastrodouka, who this year unsuccessfully challenged for the IBF super featherweight belt, being stopped in six by champion Anahi Esther Sanchez.

Last month the Polish 27 year old lost a close ten round decision to unbeaten German Sandra Atanassow.

Taylor is believed to be debuting at super featherweight, which is around one kilo lighter than the amateur lightweight limit.

Should everything go to plan on November 26th, the Bray boxer will fight again on Saturday December 10th at the Manchester Arena on the Anthony Joshua v Eric Molina PPV undercard.
