Joshua’s next opponent is useless and proves I can get in the mix says Big Sexy

Dublin heavyweight Sean ‘Big Sexy’ Turner believes he will be in the title mix as early as next year.

The big hitting ‘Big Sexy’ heads into just his sixth pro fight in Spain on August 28 and is confident two or three more impressive performances can move him into contention.

The former Senior Champion cites ‘useless’ Gary Cornish, who fights Anthony Joshua next, as proof their are big fights out there for lesser talents than he and suggests if he adds one or two respectable names to his list of victims he could secure big fights in 2016.

“If you look at the heavyweight scene below World level there is no one really out there. Joshua’s next opponent is useless. It goes to show you a few good wins and I could be in the mix quicker than people think,” Turner told Irish-boxing.com.

“If I get a few wins before this year is out I could be looking at some form of titles in 2016. Hopefully after August 28 I can get an English name, maybe someone like Dorian Darch and push on from there.”

Turner heads to Marbella this week to put the finishing touches on an MGM contract and he thinks the link up won’t only keep him busy, but will ensure he will improve his fitness and as a result his performance levels.

“I have to get fitter and I want to be fighting around 17 stone. My last fight I took at short notice and didn’t really get the chance to train for it so I came in at 19 stone. If I end up working with MGM and I am full time training out there I will get fitter, sharper and people will see a more explosive me. I am not doing too bad as is, imagine if I am more explosive?”
