There are a range of characters among the Irish team that will participate at the World Youth Championships next week in St Petersburg.

There’s the shy guys, the messers, the jokers, but none are as laid-back as Dublin’s Jordan Moore.

Nothing phases the Glasnevin light flyweight who seems to take everything in his very long stride.

The rangey stylist, nicknamed Mayweather by his team-mates, spoke to Irish-Boxing.com ahead of the Championships in Russia. Quietly confident, indeed quiet in general, the slick Dub explained how “it’s just a matter of time, all the preparations have been done.”

Three-time Irish champion Moore is aiming for a medal in Moscow, and commented on how “with a bit of luck [he will win a medal], we’ll see how it goes, we’ll see what happens.”

One of the taller men on the squad, Moore aims to stick at light flyweight for the time being, and is targeting the Elite title at the lowest weight in February. He described how “I probably walk around about 51.5kg, but I’m making it [light flyweight] handy enough, it’s not too hard, it’s just a matter of keeping the diet straight.”
