Irvine joins Joyce and Taylor in Olympic Qualifier semi finals

Brendan Irvine joined Katie Taylor and David Oliver Joyce in the semi final’s of the Olympic Qualifiers this afternoon.

The Belfast teen beat France’s Elie Konki in the flyweight class.

The Antrim ace will now meet either Armenia’s Narek Abgaryan or Italy’s Vincenzo Picardi for a place at the Olympics.

Katie Taylor and David Oliver Joyce will meet Azerbaijan’s Yana Alexseevna and Wales’ Joe Cordina in Friday’s 60kg semi-finals at the European Olympic qualifiers after posting last-eight wins today.
