Iron Man challenges for EU Gold

Ireland’s Iron Man, Martin Rogan will travel to the Olympia-Eissportzentrum in Munich on July 16 in a bid to strap EU gold around his waist.
The 40 year old Irish veteran will challenge Kubrat Pulev for the vacant EU heavyweight title in Germany in under a months time.
The former Commonwealth champion’s European dream fight was initially meant to be against ‘The Nightmare’ Robert Helenius, but the Finn vacated.
Pulev (12-0) now steps in to fill the void. The 30 year old Bulgarian, who like Rogan stopped Matt Skellton, represents ’The Entertainers’ toughest test since his return from serious neck injury.
However despite having a strong amateur pedigree, Pulev wouldn’t be deemed as dangerous as Helenius.
“Robert Helenius relinquished the EU Title and consequently the vacant title will be disputed between Martin Rogan and Kubrat Pulev. Yesterday we opened the purse offers won by Sauerland Event who will stage the fight in Germany on July 16,” The EBU told Mirror Sport yesterday.
