Irish Line Ups to fight Sweeden on Valentines Day

Current Irish Elite champion Debbie O’Reilly will meet Sweden’s Agnes Alexiusson at the National Stadium on Saturday night.
Ireland’s take on a top Swedish side on a Valentine’s Day Elite, Youth and Junior international at the home of Irish boxing.
Olympic BC stand out O’Reilly claimed the vacant lightweight title – the holder, Olympic champion Katie Taylor, had to withdraw with an injury – at the National Elite Championships last month following a thrilling win over Louise O’Donoghue.
Alexiusson scored the biggest win of her career the same month after beating the current World Elite 64kg champion, Russia’s Anastasia Belyakova, on a majority decision in the semi-finals of the Golden Girl Championships in Sweden.
Belyakova is currently ranked No. 1 in the World by AIBA in the light-welter class. Alexiusson, who was beaten by Finland’s Mira Potkonen in the Golden Girl lightweight final, won double AIBA World Youth and Junior gold in 2011 and 2013 and bronze at the 2014 Olympic Youths.
EU youth medallist Amy Broadhurst will also line out for Ireland on Saturday night, along with Francis Cleary. The weigh-in for Saturday’s international will be held between 5:30pm and 6pm on Saturday at the National Stadium. Boxing begins at 7:15pm.
