Irish fighters confirmed for Parker-Fury World Title Undercard
Hughie Fury [20(10)-0] challenges for the WBO heavyweight title this Autumn, and there will be a distinctly Irish feel to the undercard.
The young heavyweight, on the week of his 23rd birthday, takes on reigning champ Joseph Parker [23(18)-0] of New Zealand for the brown belt on Saturday September 23rd at the Manchester Arena.
The refixed fight, initially due to take place in the Antipodes back in April, will feature at least two Irish fighters on the undercard.
Irish welterweight champion Peter McDonagh [27(3)-28(2)-1] will be back in the ring after almost 11 months as he looks to extend his ten-fight unbeaten run and move into contention for the EBU-EU title. The Galway boxer has recently joined up with the Team Fury camp to prepare for the fight date.
Fury’s training partner, Tipperary heavyweight Con Sheehan [6(1)-0], will also appear on the card. The Clonmel big man is keen to fight for the Irish title on the show as he seeks to move past the prospect stage of his career.
Further undercard details are expected in the coming days and weeks.
