Irish Canelo wins in America

Noel Murphy extended his unbeaten start to the pro game with victory on Wednesday night.

The Cork light middleweight pushed his slate to 6-0 with victory in Westchester, New York.

Ariel Vasquez (12-12-2) was meant to represent a step up in clash for the 21 year old, but Murphy won five and drew one round to register a 60-52, 60-52, 60-52 decision.

The contest was also Murphy’s first six rounder and marks a good start for what his team will be hoping will be a progressive year.
