Irish boxer secures slot on Terence Crawford v Amir Khan undercard
There will be Irish representation on the big Terence Crawford v Amir Khan card in New York next month.
In the inaugural ESPN PPV event, Crawford defends his WBO welterweight title against Khan at the Madison Square Garden Arena in Manhattan on Saturday April 20th.
This afternoon it has been confirmed that Clones light welter Larry Fryers will feature on the bill in the Big Apple.
‘Lethal Larry’ announced the news on his social media.
It is a return to the big stage for the Monaghan man who was stopped by Russian Nikolai Buzolin at the Barclays Centre last April. Fryers would subsequently change his entire team and has bounced back with three wins on the spin, stepping up to eight-round fights in the process.
It is also a return to the Madison Square Garden complex for Fryers who featured on the Mick Conlan debut undercard back in 2017 in the downstairs theatre.
The New York-based 28-year-old said that “this is it folks, the start of the push to the top.”
“I can’t bloody wait to get this show on the road, it’s onwards and upwards from her on out.
Details of Fryers opponent and the number of rounds will be confirmed in due course.
The card will be shown live on this side of the Atlantic via BT Sport Box Office.
Alongside Fryers the undercard also features some good match-ups in Teofimo Lopez v Edis Tatli, Shakur Stevenson v Christopher Diaz, and Felix Verdejo v Bryan Vasquez as well as appearances for Carlos Adames, Edgar Berlanga, Lawrence Newton, and Vikas Krishan.
