Ireland and Russia to battle it out in European Youth semis

Russia and Ireland – with seven and five boxers each – have the highest representation in Friday’s semi-finals at the European Youth Championships in Kolobrzeg, Poland.

Please click here for program. The card will be decided over two sessions beginning at 1pm and 5pm (Irish times) on Friday.

Stephen McKenna, Will Donoghue, James McGivern, Michael Nevin and John Joyce are in last-four action. All five will be taking home at least bronze.

Three of Friday’s semi-finals are Ireland versus Russia clashes. The Irish squad will have a light training session today ahead of Friday’s weigh-ins and bouts.

The finals are scheduled for Saturday.

Team Ireland are due to arrive home at 12.40pm on Sunday afternoon via Dublin Airport. Five medals will be on board. The colour of those medals will be determined this weekend.
