Ireland get off to perfect start at EU Championships
There were two wins from two today on the opening day of action at the EU Women’s Championships.
Michaela Walsh got Ireland off to a perfect start versus England’s Ebonie Jones in Cascia, Italy.
The Belfast bantam beat the Heart of Portsmouth BC orthodox, an ex European Junior champion, on a unanimous decision at the tournament to book her ticket into the quarter-finals versus Moldova.
Kelly Harrington then followed this up with a win over come-forward Pole Kinga Szalachicic. The Dublin lightweight counter-punched effectively to claim a split-decision win and move into medal contention
Tomorrow will see Kristina O’Hara, Carly McNaul, and Dervla Duffy all in action in Last 16 fights.
