The impressed American reaction following Katie Taylor’s dominant U.S. debut

From a boxing perspective, short of keeping sharp and active, there was little benefit to Katie Taylor‘s sixth professional fight.

Opponent Jasmine Clarkson was a late choice, after stronger foes had refused the fight, and was badly overmatched against the World title-chasing Irishwoman.

After three rounds of domination in which Taylor outlanded her opponent at a rate greater than 10 to 1, the tough Texan southpaw was pulled out.

However, overall, the one-sided fight could prove to be a crucial one in the career of the Wicklow lightweight as it introduced her to U.S. boxing circles with a bang.

The response to Taylor’s performance, which was streamed live by Showtime, was hugely positive, with fans and writers alike being impressed by the blistering speed and combinations of the Bray boxer.

In the Showtime commentary box, after waxing lyrical about her talents throughout the fight, they would afterwards note how “Katie Taylor moves her record to six and 0 but, more importantly, makes a great impression in her first bout here in the United States.”

There was even a celebrity admirer –
