IABA name World Junior Championship squad

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) today confirmed a 13-strong squad for the 10thAIBA World Junior Men’s Championships in St Petersburg,  Russia.

All of the squad claimed Open Senior Cadet titles last month at the National Stadium in Dublin. The IABA ran the tournament to assist with their selection process for St Petersburg.

The 2015 AIBA World Junior Championships, formerly the World Cadet Championships, begin on September 4th.

Irish boxing has claimed two gold medals at this level over the last six years, courtesy of Joe Wardand Willie Donoghue.

The AIBA World Men’s Junior Championships is reserved for 15 and 16 year-old athletes.
