Hylands return to Stadium

18 April 2011 – Jonny Stapleton

Irelands band boxing of brothers are ready to put on a big show in the National Stadium on June 4.

All three Hylands; Eddie, Patrick and Paul will appear on a card promoted by their father – Golden Cobra coach Patrick Hyland snr. The family affair will be the first time the Irish public will see stylist Paulie Hyland since lost out in the first ever all Irish European title fight. While undefeated Irish featherweight champion Patrick Pajo Hyland will be looking to extend his winning run to 24 and move a step closer to securing second continental Hyland fling. Big brother Eddie Hyland returns after an 18 month sabbatical.

Promoter Paddy Hyland has promised boxing fans an unforgettable nights action and insists he has a couple more surprises up his sleeve before the full bill is finalised for the June 4 event.

We are delighted to be in a position to provide Irish boxing fans with another top class boxing event, Hyland said.

The card will host another long overdue return as unbeaten Celtic Rebel Spike O Sullivan will put the title he won against Belfast’s Ciaran Healy back in December 2009 on the line against the rugged and determined Robbie Long.

Following Longs controversial points loss against Anthony Fitzgerald last December in the finale of their three epic battles for the Irish super middleweight title, the Tallaght pugilist is determined to get the job done properly this time.

Im delighted to be fighting on such a quality packed show and getting another crack at an Irish title. I was very unlucky not to have got the decision in my last fight with Anthony Fitzgerald but I know I will have to up my game even more against Spike, it will be a tough fight but I will be ready and am confident of taking that title back to Tallaght.
