Hogan has proved himself a World class fighter says coach

DENNIS Hogan proved he is a World class light middleweight with victory over Tyrone Brunson in American on Friday night, claims coach Steve Deller.

Deller nervously watched from the corner as the Australian and Oceanic title holder defeated the KO artist-Brunson has no fewer than 19 first round KO wins to his name- to claim the NABA USA title.

The unanimous points win will help a fighter already ranked in the IBF top 10 move into the WBA top 15 meaning he will eligible to challenge for both World straps.

Deller, who was impressed with the undefeated Kildare natives display, believes the victory has confirmed ‘The Hurricane’s’ big time arrival.

“He is well and truly on the international scene after that fight. He has proved himself a World class fighter. i was nervous going into the fight, while Dennis’s nerves were as good as gold, but with his knock out record, anyone that trains fighters will tell you that punchers are dangerous right till the very last. He couldn’t get going with Dennis. Dennis was changing the angles all the time, picking away at him and actually pushing him back a bit,” he told livecombatsports.com.au.

Hogan too was happy with the performance and paid tribute to his support post bout.

“I felt good in there. My fitness was good. I knew he was a big puncher so I had to watch for that, but I did what I needed to do and got the win. When were in the clinches and in the inside I could feel the power that he had, but I knew I was quicker than him. In the third round I think I felt the majority of his power in a shot and I knew I was able to take it and get on and work.

“The support has been amazing here in America and because of it I am now champion of North America. “
