Hearn submits official proposal to make Frampton v Quigg ‘super fight’

EDDIE Hearn has tabled an official proposal to CWM Cyclone in a bid to make a ‘super fight’ between Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg.

After years of trading verbal blows the pair look certain to trade real blows this Summer- and Hearn claims he has put in an offer that will ensure both come away with a substantial purse.

There are certain hurdles to over come before any contracts are signed and sit down negotiations will still have to take place. The Matchroom boss will want the clash to be broadcast on Sky Sports, while Team Frampton will be hopeful ITV will show an interest in the clash.

“Scott is not worried about where the fight is staged or what television channel it is shown on – we just want to make this fight,” he said.

“Of course the finances have to be right and we have submitted a proposal that will pay both fighters huge money. They will talk with their broadcaster and see what’s on offer and then hopefully we will sit down as soon as possible. After that, we can push negotiations on.”

One stumbling block previously was the split demands, team Frampton argue considering ‘The Jackal’ has the legitimate title, sells more tickets and now has a terrestrial TV backing the purse should not be split 50-50.

Hearn seems set to compromise suggesting it fall 60-40 in favour of the winner.

“I’m not sure if we will ever find an agreed split – I would be happy for a 60-40 purse split in favour of the winner. If you really fancy it I can’t see a problem with that. Let’s see.

“We can talk about world titles and legacy and exposure but ultimately this is a super fight – and in a super fight it is only right that these two great fighters get the best deal possible financially.”
