Hearn says he will start talks with McGuigan this week in a bid to make Frampton v Quigg
EDDIE Hearn says he will try and open talks with Cyclone Promotions this week in a bid to make the fight ‘the public want to see’.
The Matchroom boss is eager to make a mega Carl Frampton v Scott Quigg showdown and will try and get negotiations started as soon as possible.
Both fighters expressed a desire to get it on immediately after their recent victories, but it seems a number of issues need to be ironed out before a deal can be made.
Team Frampton are adamant any contract should reflect the fact their man is far superior in the ticket selling department and is a ‘real’ World champion. Whilst Team Quigg and Hearn adamant of finical parity, Matchroom are also keen on a rematch clause while the IBF champ wants to beat the WBA regular champion and move on.
Regardless Hearn claimed after Quigg beat Stephane Jamoye on Saturday night that he will try and make a fight he believes will provide both with a massive pay day.
“We’re involved with (Frampton’s mandatory) Chris Avalos, maybe he’ll step aside so Carl can face Scott, We’ll make the call to Barry McGuigan this week. The British public want it, Scott and Carl want it,” said Hearn. “Let these kids have a huge pay day and a great fight for boxing, two world champions. Let’s get it made, let these kids earn the fortune they deserve.”
