HEARN: ITV deal makes Frampton Quigg a bigger fight

MATCHROOM boss Eddie Hearn heralded Cyclone Promotion and Carl Frampton’s ITV deal as ‘fantastic’ and claims it will make a potential fight between ‘The Jackal’ and Scott Quigg even bigger.

The IBF World champion brings big time World championship boxing back to terrestrial TV and his first defense against Chris Avalos in Belfast on February 28 has the potential to bring in millions of TV viewers, thus making the undefeated super bantamweight a cross over star.

Rather than lament the fact a fighter he used to work with has such a platform to build from, Hearn welcomed the deal. The Matchroom boss claimed it was good for boxing as a whole and stressed it could benefit a possible grudge match between Frampton and Quigg.

ā€œFantastic, brilliant. I have always said the more channels that show boxing the better and on terrestrial television is even better. People say ā€˜Ha ha Framptonā€™s got ITVā€™ but it makes Frampton versus Scott Quigg even bigger. The more exposure for boxing the better,

ā€œBoxing is sexy again, look at where we are now. Boxing is on Sky, Boxnation, Channel 5 and ITV and BT will join soon. Eurosport. You have six channels showing boxing. Itā€™s brilliant,ā€ he added.

Hearn, however did later explain why he believed the Quigg Ā Frampton fight should be on Sky, claiming the potential pay per view revenue would make Sky the best platform.
